The Complete Helldivers 2 Armor Build Guide

Helldivers Build Series · 4 Parts

Helldivers 2 is one of the fastest-growing cosplay subjects in 2024 and 2025 — and it’s a fantastic build project. The armor is military-practical, heavily weathered, and immediately recognizable. Add the cape, the stratagem book, and a prop Liberator, and you’ve got a complete Super Citizen look that reads across any convention floor.

The Helldivers Aesthetic

The Helldiver look is “Super Earth military surplus that’s been through hell.” The armor is protective but clearly worn — dented, scratched, dirty. This is a build where heavy weathering isn’t optional — it’s the entire point. A pristine, fresh-paint Helldiver suit looks wrong. The paint should look like it’s been on a three-mission bug hunt.

This actually makes Helldivers 2 a more forgiving build in some ways: minor surface imperfections from printing can stay and become texture — sand the layer lines but don’t obsess over perfect smoothness.

Popular Armor Sets for Cosplay

  • SC-30 Trailblazer Scout: The default armor set look — iconic, balanced proportions, recognizable even to people who haven’t played the game. Strong file availability.
  • DP-40 Hero of the Federation: More heroic proportions, slightly larger chest piece. Popular for cosplayers who want a statement build.
  • B-24 Enforcer: Heavier, more angular plates. Good for builders who want the tank aesthetic.
  • Light armor variants: Less coverage, faster to build — better for warm-climate conventions or outdoor events.

Props That Complete the Look

  • Stratagem Book: Print it, texture the pages, add a weathered leather cover. It’s a conversation starter at every convention.
  • Liberator Assault Rifle: A printed prop shell in the correct shape, painted and weathered. Non-functional, assembled from sections.
  • Stims Canister: Small, easy to print, immediately recognizable. Attach to armor or belt with a small clip or magnet.
  • Cape: A fabric project covered in the soft goods article — one of the best fabric elements in any sci-fi cosplay build.

Difficulty and Time

Helldivers armor is intermediate difficulty. The piece count is lower than a Spartan build, and the heavy weathering target means surface prep is faster. The main time investment is the finishing stage.

  • Filament: 3–5 kg for full armor set, $40–$80
  • Finishing supplies: $40–$70
  • Soft goods (uniform, cape): $50–$120
  • Props: $10–$20 in filament plus paint
