GalaxyCon Columbus 2024

GalaxyCon Columbus 2024 was everything I hoped for and more—a weekend packed with Star Wars magic, unforgettable experiences, and some seriously cool people. Whether it was geeking out over cosplay, getting chased by bounty hunters, or soaking up some droid-building wisdom, there was never a dull moment.

Star Wars Cosplayers Everywhere

The cosplayers were absolutely killing it this year. From Jedi and Sith to Mandalorians and even a few hilarious Jawas, the creativity and attention to detail were next level. It felt like I’d wandered onto the set of a Star Wars movie!

I also spent time with the Ohio branch of the 501st Legion, and wow—these folks are incredible. Not only are their costumes screen-accurate, but their passion for Star Wars and giving back to the community is inspiring. They even gave me a few tips for making my own cosplay more authentic, which I’ll definitely be putting to good use at The Star Forge!

Sam Witwer: Darth Maul in the Flesh

One of the best panels was with Sam Witwer, the voice of Darth Maul and an all-around Star Wars legend. He’s such a passionate fan himself, and hearing him talk about his work on The Clone Wars and Rebels was a total nerd-out moment for me. He even shared some behind-the-scenes stories, which made me appreciate his performance even more.

Droid-Building Inspo

I’ve always been fascinated by droid-building, so attending the panel about it was a no-brainer. They broke down everything from the mechanics to the electronics, and by the end, I was itching to start building one myself. If you see me posting droid parts on The Star Forge soon, you’ll know where the idea came from.

Shopping Galore

The vendor hall was dangerous for my wallet, but totally worth it. There were so many small vendors with amazing Star Wars-themed merch—custom lightsabers, 3D-printed props, and beautiful artwork. I grabbed a few unique items that I’m super excited about, but honestly, I wanted to buy everything.

Bounty Hunter Mayhem

Another HUGE highlight was getting hunted by bounty hunters from the 501st! A group of cosplayers with incredible costumes and props decided to track people down on the convention floor, and I was one of their targets. It was like being in a real-life Star Wars adventure, complete with witty trash talk and dramatic “capture” moments.

Wrapping It Up

GalaxyCon Columbus 2024 was everything I love about conventions: great people, tons of creativity, and endless inspiration. If you’re a Star Wars fan, this is one con you don’t want to miss.

Now that I’m back home, I’m buzzing with ideas for new projects and can’t wait to get started. Maybe it’s time to try my hand at building a droid? Until then, may the Force be with you!
