3DPrintopia stands as one of the most significant gatherings in the 3D printing world, evolving from humble beginnings to become a cornerstone event for the additive manufacturing community. The event, which began its journey in 2018 as the East Coast RepRap Festival (ERRF), has transformed into an inclusive celebration of 3D printing innovation and creativity.

The event’s history traces back to 2017 when 3DP Events LLC was formed by dedicated individuals who envisioned creating a space for 3D printing enthusiasts to connect and share their passion. Their first event in June 2018 at the APGFCU Arena in Bel Air, Maryland, attracted 27 sponsoring companies and over 700 attendees, setting the foundation for future growth.

Through the years, the event has shown remarkable expansion. The 2019 edition saw participation from 67 sponsor organizations and welcomed over 1,500 attendees. After successfully navigating the challenges of the Covid pandemic with virtual events in 2020 and 2021, they returned stronger in 2022 with nearly 1,600 attendees and more than 70 sponsors.

The organizers made a strategic decision to rebrand the event as 3DPrintopia in 2023, making it more accessible and understandable to a broader audience. This change proved successful, as the event attracted over 2,200 attendees that year. The momentum continued into 2024, with attendance surging to more than 2,600 participants in an expanded format.

Today, 3DPrintopia offers a diverse range of activities, including hands-on demonstrations, expert presentations, and interactive competitions such as the 3D Printed Derby Race and Death Racers jousting tank battle. The event brings together industry professionals, hobbyists, and newcomers, creating an environment where they can share knowledge, showcase innovations, and build connections within the 3D printing community.

As the event approaches its 2025 edition, it continues to uphold its commitment to fostering diversity and innovation in the 3D printing industry, while providing a platform for both community engagement and professional development.
