This past weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to attend Brick Fest Live in Dayton, Ohio, and it was everything a LEGO enthusiast could hope for! From interactive activities to jaw-dropping builds, there was no shortage of fun and inspiration. Here’s a look at our experience, from crafting our own LEGO race cars to geeking out over Star Wars cosplay with the 501st Legion.
One of the first things we did was head over to the LEGO race car station. Here, we got to let our imaginations run wild as we built custom race cars using an assortment of bricks and wheels provided. After assembling our creations, it was time to hit the track! The races were competitive, and it was amazing to see all the unique designs people came up with—from sleek speedsters to wacky contraptions that somehow made it down the track.
The centerpiece of Brick Fest Live had to be the stunning LEGO creations on display. We saw incredible builds of mythical creatures like a Hydra, Cyclops, Satyr, and Minotaur. Each one was massive, detailed, and truly brought these mythical beings to life in brick form.
The highlight for us, though, was a sprawling diorama of a Star Wars battle scene. It was packed with tiny figures, detailed vehicles, and intricate terrain. The attention to detail was astonishing—you could almost hear the blaster fire and the roar of TIE Fighters overhead.
Next up was the mosaic-building station, where attendees worked together to build a massive LEGO mosaic. Each participant contributed a small section of the mosaic, and it was incredible to watch the artwork come together piece by piece. It’s a reminder of how LEGO can bring people together to create something much larger than themselves.
As part of Brick Fest Live, we were given a badge that had spots for collectible LEGO pieces. Scattered throughout the event were stations where you could complete small challenges or tasks to earn a piece of your badge. From answering trivia questions to participating in hands-on activities, every station added a fun, interactive element to the experience. Once we collected all the pieces, we redeemed them for a prize—a perfect keepsake from an unforgettable day.
Adding to the Star Wars magic was the presence of the 501st Legion, a renowned Star Wars cosplay group. These dedicated fans brought iconic characters to life with screen-accurate costumes. We had the chance to chat with them about their work and their love for Star Wars, and of course, we took plenty of pictures! Posing next to stormtroopers and Darth Vader while surrounded by epic LEGO creations was a surreal experience.
Brick Fest Live was a day filled with creativity, imagination, and fun. From hands-on activities to admiring the hard work of LEGO builders, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a lifelong LEGO fan or just starting to explore the world of bricks, this event is a must-visit.
We left inspired, a little tired, and definitely looking forward to building something amazing at home. If you have the chance to attend a Brick Fest Live near you, don’t miss it—it’s an unforgettable experience for LEGO lovers of all ages!
